Gary McAllister shares significant update on Edmundson & Jones during Rangers ban
Gary McAllister has shared that Rangers have welcomed back disgraced duo George Edmundson and Jordan Jones into the fold.
The Bears pairing picked up significant bans for breaching COVID-19 protocols and won’t be available for the Betfred Cup clash with Falkirk.
Jones and Edmundson were also suspended by the club for their actions, although they have finally returned to the bubble at Ibrox.
McAllister claimed that both have been “humbled” by the incident, although there is still some way to go before they earn back the trust of Steven Gerrard.
“The facts are, they’ve come back into the fold,” he said via the Daily Record.
“You can see that they’ve been humbled a touch, absolutely, for what had happened.
“They’ve been welcomed back and they are part of it – but they won’t be involved this weekend, no.”
Getting back into training is the first step on a long road back for this pair.
Jones and Edmundson are lucky to have even been given this chance, and many would have shown them the exit door immediately after this.
The first game that both can return to feature in is the clash against St Mirren, and it will be intriguing to see if both or either make the squad.
Rangers will be looking to continue their cracking form into the busy Christmas period, and having two players available after a long absence could be critical.
The fact that they were humbled by this is a good sign, but it will take more than that to get back in the good books at Ibrox.
