Images emerge on Twitter that show area fenced-off ahead of Rangers construction project

Rangers are pressing on with the development of a new Edmiston House next to Ibrox with the old building now completely demolished.

Twitter user Joe Black has shared images he has taken of the development site on Edmiston Drive, which shows the remaining rubble from the old building behind a fenced-off area.

All that seems to remain are the old ‘Fan Zone’ signs.

In August, Rangers confirmed they are seeking planning permission from Glasgow City Council to build a “new two-storey facility”.

Earlier this week, Ibrox News uncovered documents on the Glasgow City Council website that show Rangers have been granted planning permission for the new Edmiston House, “subject to conditions“.

It was a big step in the Gers’ bid to redevelop part of their land and offer fans a new area to congregate ahead of fixtures.

At the moment, with fans unable to attend matches, the prospect of a new fan zone seems a bit pointless but we would imagine that by the time this has been completed, supporters will be able to return to Ibrox.

Hopefully, Ibrox will at least partially re-open this season with Steven Gerrard’s side launching their most serious title challenge since returning to the Scottish Premiership.

As it stands, the Light Blues are nine points clear of Celtic at the top of the league and are also performing well in Europe by being joint-top of their Europa League group with Benfica.

If the fans were there, it would make this season even more special than it is promising to be and we really hope that if any silverware is lifted at Ibrox, there will be some people there to witness it and cheer on Gerrard’s men.
