Rangers granted planning permission by GCC for new development by Ibrox

Glasgow City Council have granted Rangers planning permission to build a new Edmiston House next to Ibrox.

A document on the Glasgow City Council website says that the redevelopment of the site will be granted “subject to conditions” after the Gers asked for planning permission back in August.

Rangers want to build a “new two-storey facility that will replace Edmiston House” with the previous building being demolished last month.

Speaking in August, managing director Stewart Robertson said what the new Edmiston House will be used for.

He told Rangers’ official website: “Today, we submitted our plans to Glasgow City Council for a fabulous building which we will use as a fanzone on match-days and also include a state of the art Rangers museum, a café, a multi purpose conference and concert venue and new retail facilities over two floors.”

While no fans are allowed at Ibrox for the time-being, it remains to be seen when this new area will be used by supporters.

However, as the old building has only just been demolished and planning permission has only just been granted so we’re some way away from anything being completed or even ground being broke.

We cannot wait to see Rangers fans back inside Ibrox as Steven Gerrard’s side continue their push to win the Scottish Premiership title and stop Celtic from winning their 10th title in a row.

Imagine the atmosphere – even if only a few thousand people are allowed inside – if the Gers go on to win the title.

In other Rangers news, this £4million player has had his confidence knocked by being dropped by Steven Gerrard.
