Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce hails Rangers after ‘perfect’ start to season
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has hailed Rangers for their impressive start to the Scottish Premiership season.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender argued that the Gers had gotten their campaign off to the “perfect” start with a 1-0 win over Aberdeen on the opening weekend.
Steven Gerrard’s men then followed that up with a 3-0 win over St. Mirren to help maintain their 100% record.
Next up for the Gers is a midweek clash against St. Johnstone, and a win could see them move five points ahead of bitter rivals Celtic already – albeit with the Hoops having a game in hand.
And Bruce has been impressed with what he has seen so far.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “It’s always a good way to start your season, with a couple of good solid wins.
“They’ve done that.
“To go to a difficult place like Aberdeen in particular, I’m sure Gerrard will be delighted.
“To keep a couple of clean sheets as well is impressive, and in many ways that first match was the perfect away performance from Rangers.”
Rangers find themselves in a relatively unique position going into their next run of matches.
With Celtic having their next two Premiership matches postponed because of a breach in Coronavirus protocols, the Gers could end up 11 points clear of their bitter rivals before Neil Lennon’s men next kick a ball.
In other Rangers news, Darren Fletcher has backed this Gers talent for big season in 20/21 after impressive showing v Aberdeen.
