Andy Walker claims St. Johnstone ‘have to stop’ Rangers ace Morelos in Wednesday clash

Rangers hitman Alfredo Morelos is the man that St. Johnstone must stop if they are pick up an unexpected win on Wednesday night.

The Colombian looked like a player transformed in his last outing for the Gers, striking twice in a 3-0 win over St. Mirren after registering just one prior competitive goal in the whole of 2020.

And Walker is of the opinion that he can keep his purple patch going if his opponents this evening don’t marshal him properly.

Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “What exactly does Steven Gerrard do with Alfredo Morelos?

“As well as all the problems he has given the Rangers manager, he also delivers goals on a regular basis.

“A double at the weekend took all the pressure off the home side and made it a convincing win over St Mirren. He’s the man Saints have to stop.

“Calum Davidson’s side had an unwanted free weekend to prepare for this one, but this is where he’ll learn a lot about his players.”

Walker predicts a 2-0 win for Rangers.

Is Morelos back to his best?

It would be a little presumptuous to argue that he is off the back of one performance, but you have to acknowledge that he did look an awful lot better on Sunday.

After a decidedly lacklustre display against Bayer Leverkusen last week in which he failed to register a single shot and made just eight successful passes, as per Wyscout, El Bufalo bounced back with a much brighter display in which he  had eight shots, made three times as many passes, and generally looked like his old self again.

If he can continue that kind of form on Wednesday night then Walker is absolutely right, he will be too hot to handle.

Time and time again he has proven that he is a player who can be a match winner for the Gers, and Sunday was just another example on a long, long list.
