‘No smoke without fire’: Rangers Exclusive: Bruce claims Morelos speculation may be ‘disruptive’
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has claimed that the ongoing transfer saga surrounding Alfredo Morelos could have a “disruptive” effect on the Rangers dressing room.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender admitted that it would be a blow to the Gers to see their star man depart, but also suggested that it could be time to cut their losses for the greater good of the squad.
Morelos has consistently been linked with an exit from Glasgow in recent times, with Sky Sports reporting at the end of last month that he has agreed to join French outfit Lille.

And Bruce believes that the continued speculation could prove to be something of a distraction.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “Obviously, there’s a lot of talk about him.
“We’ve seen Steven talk about him and I can understand that he would want to keep him. However, if the player is unhappy and he’s pushing to get out then Steven might feel he can use that money to strengthen the squad in other areas.
“It is disruptive, especially when it’s your main goalscorer. I’m sure managers get sick of answering the same questions. Usually, there’s no smoke without fire though.
“If he does leave, it will be a loss, but you never know, with that money, they could unearth somebody better than Morelos.”

Morelos has featured in each of Rangers’ last two matches, but has drawn a blank in both and looked severely off the pace against Bayer Leverkusen in midweek.
The Gers also cast further doubt over his future by completing a double swoop for strikers Kemar Roofe and Cedric Itten earlier this week.
In other Rangers news, Darren Fletcher has backed this Gers talent for big season in 20/21 after impressive showing v Aberdeen.
