‘Make your mind up time’ – Ferguson urges Rangers to resolve ongoing Morelos saga

Barry Ferguson has urged Rangers to end the speculation surrounding Alfredo Morelos as soon as possible.

The Colombian has been at the centre of a transfer saga for some time now, with widespread expectation that her will leave the club in the coming weeks.

Sky Sports even went as far as to report last week that the hitman has agreed a deal to join Lille the summer.

But whether Morelos ends up staying or going, Ferguson has made it very clear that he believes a resolution must be found as quickly as possible.

Writing in a column for the Daily Record, he said: “It’s make your mind up time for Rangers and Alfredo Morelos.

“The debate about the future of the Colombian striker must end now – for the sake of the club and player. Rangers have a title to win and the focus of their players, management and staff must be on nothing but performances on the pitch.

“Let’s not forget Alfredo in all of this, either. The speculation has gone on too long and he must also rediscover the form that has seen his value rise to the £20million mark. To do so, he must have an honest discussion with himself. Does he want to stay or does he want to go?

“This situation can not be allowed to continue until the close of the transfer window in October. This is a distraction that Rangers – and the player – no longer need.”

Does Ferguson have a point here?

Absolutely, he does.

The sooner this saga finds some kind of definite conclusion, the sooner both Rangers and Morelos can move on.

Increasingly, it does look as if Morelos will be on his way this summer, with Kris Boyd telling Sky Sports that he expects a deal to be announced imminently.

And if that is the case, then why prolong the inevitable?

It was quite clear on Thursday evening that Morelos was not on top of his game, as previously discussed by Ibrox News, and if that is the level of performance we can expect out of him, he shouldn’t even be in the starting XI.

It’s a shame that things have turned out this way, but it’s time to cash in on El Bufalo.
