‘Concerning’ – Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce claims Rangers will not be held to ransom by Kennedy

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has claimed that Rangers will not be held to ransom over Kai Kennedy’s contract situation.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender argued that the Gers are a massive side, and pointed out that the starlet has not yet done enough to justify making excessive demands to club chiefs.

Football Insider reported last week that the teenager has rejected a new contract in Glasgow, and could be allowed to leave the club this summer if an agreement cannot be reached.

But Bruce has expressed his concern at Kennedy’s apparent desire to leave the club.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “When you see things like that and you hear things like that, it’s obviously a little bit concerning.

“But Rangers are a massive club, and if young lads are turning contracts down and believe that they’d be better chancing their arm somewhere else, it’s worrying.

“But I’m sure the club won’t be held to ransom over a young lad who hasn’t done much because they’re a huge club, as I say, and I don’t think they’ll allow their young players to take the mick.”

Kennedy made his senior bow for the Gers during the Scottish Cup outing against Stranraer back in January.

Despite his lack of experience, Football Insider reported earlier in the year that the youngster was being touted for a major role at Ibrox next season.
