Barry Ferguson urges Kennedy to reconsider Rangers future after potential exit report
Barry Ferguson has urged Kai Kennedy to reconsider his future at Rangers.
The teenager has a year left on his current contract at Ibrox, but The Scottish Sun have reported recently that the youngster could be headed for the exit door after talks over a potential extension stalled.
It is understood that the player’s wage demands now exceed what Rangers would be willing to pay him, and the starlet has been told that he can find another club if a decent enough fee can be brought in.
But Ferguson would rather see the youngster stick around for a while longer.
Speaking to PLZ Soccer, he said: “A lot of these young players have advisors who maybe try and push them a bit too quickly.
“I like young players to stay about and fight for a place.
“There’s no doubt the young kid has huge potential so I would like him to stay about.
“At this stage in his career it’s not about money. We’ve seen it with various young players moving far too quick for my liking, I’d like to see him stay for a while longer.”
Would Kennedy be a miss for Rangers?
This is a strange one in some respects.
Kennedy is a player who is yet to really make an impact on the first team, but the last thing we want its another Billy Gilmour situation on our hands.
Added to that, Alan Hutton has told Football Insider that the starlet is one of the most highly regarded talents in the academy system in Glasgow.
Ibrox News have already examined the youngster in quite some detail, and we believe that he absolutely justifies the hype.
It would be gutting to see such a promising player slip through the net yet again.
We agree with Ferguson, he has to reconsider.
