Holt would not block move for reported Rangers target Dykes if offer is ‘right and acceptable’
Livingston manager Gary Holt has claimed that he would not stand in the way of Lyndon Dykes moving to Rangers this summer – provided the Gers’ offer was “right and acceptable”.
Steven Gerrard’s men have been linked with a potential swoop for the 24-year-old hitman in recent weeks, as per the Scottish Sun.
And despite the fact that he hit 12 goals and 10 assists for his side this term, Holt has admitted that he would be reluctant to stand in Dykes’ way if he does wish to move on.
As quoted by the Glasgow Times, he said: “We wouldn’t stand in Lyndon’s way if the right offer came in.
“I’m not going to dig my heels in and stop him because we want to keep him. If the right offer comes in and it’s beneficial to everybody then it’ll be as simple as that. I’d be loathe to halt a boys’ career by digging my heels in for a couple more pounds.
“If the deal is right and acceptable to the club, first and foremost, then everyone at this club is able to move on when the time is right.
“I’ve got to be fair and honest with the players and they know that.”
What does this mean for Rangers?
It has to be a positive sign, surely.
Of course, nothing is assured, but the fact that Dykes’ manager is openly discussing the possibility of him moving this summer would seemingly suggest that there is at least a chance of a deal happening.
The other thing to consider is that Rangers aren’t the only side interested in the forward.
According to the Daily Record, Cardiff City are keen on the striker too.
That could complicate matters, especially if the Bluebirds secure promotion to the Premier League this season.
But Rangers have been acting swiftly and decisively in the transfer market, and if they put their foot down and steal a march on the Championship side, this feels like it could be a goer.
