Ibrox Exclusive: Rangers star Morelos will be ‘in demand’ this summer, claims Alex Bruce
We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…
Alex Bruce has claimed that Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos “will be in demand” this summer, but needs to sharpen up after a disappointing dip in form.
Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that the Colombian’s natural finishing ability will make him a target for potential suitors in the coming weeks.
Morelos hit 29 goals in all competitions for the Gers this term, but has managed only one since the turn of the year.
But Bruce has also argued that the South American must be willing to prove his consistency following his unexpected slump in front of goal.
Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “I think he will be in demand because everybody wants a goalscorer, but he does need to become a little bit more consistent because I felt towards the back end of last season that he fell away a little bit.
“He needs to come back after this lockdown, and when the season starts up again, he needs to show everybody what a good player he is, because there’s no doubt about it, he’s a real handful on his day.
“If he shows the potential that he’s got, I’m sure he will be in demand for a lot of clubs.”
Morelos has already been linked with a number of clubs this summer, including Qatari side Al Duhail – although it is understood that the hitman turned down the chance to move to the Middle East.
The player’s agent also spoke out earlier this week to deny claims that he had been offered to Napoli ahead of a potential summer switch.
