Morelos agent claims he offered Rangers star to Napoli ahead of potential summer switch
Alfredo Morelos’ agent has claimed that he has offered the Rangers star to Napoli this summer.
The 24-year-old has repeatedly been linked with an exit from Ibrox in recent months, with Qatari side Al Duhail becoming the latest in a long list of reported suitors.
But Miki Bouraoui, who claims to work on the Colombian’s behalf, has suggested that he has already offered him to the Italian giants.
It would appear, however, that Napoli are on the verge of wrapping up a deal for Lille striker Victor Osimhen – a move that would essentially rule out any real chance of Morelos making a switch.
But Bouraoui has claimed that his client is not short of suitors.
Speaking to Calcio Napoli, he said: “Osimhen? Great footballer, if the attacker has arrived in the city and talks to the club, then it means that there is an excellent chance for it to be closed.
“The possible arrival of the Nigerian excludes the engagement of another attacker; I’m talking about Alfredo Morelos.
“Last year he was the top scorer in Scotland and this year he scored a lot with Glasgow Rangers. I had proposed him to [Napoli sporting director Cristiano] Giuntoli , after he had given me his approval.
“He is a very valuable player for whom there are different clubs interested, especially in the Premier League, but his preference is to move to Italy.”
What can we make of this?
It hardly sounds like good news, does it?
True, Napoli might have turned down the chance to sign Morelos, but the two main things we can take from this is that there is still plenty of interest in Morelos, and the player himself seems keen on making a move.
Of course, the transfer saga surrounding El Bufalo has rumbled on for some time already, and don’t be surprised to see it continue for a while longer too.
But the fact that his representative is talking up the possibility of a move to a regular Champions League contender shows that Morelos has his sights set on a top, top transfer if he is to leave Rangers.
