Ibrox View: Reported Rangers target Zungu could be great transfer option this summer
Rangers are attacking this transfer window with a pleasing amount of urgency.
The Gers have already wrapped up a number of deals, and according to a report from France Football, are looking to make a move for South Africa international midfielder Bongani Zungu too.
The player has made it clear that he wishes to leave French side Amiens this summer, and is reportedly valued at around £2.7 million by his current employers.
But what could he offer the Gers?
His stats are certainly promising.
According to Wyscout, the 27-year-old has made more interceptions, contested more duels, and completed a higher percentage of long and through balls than Ryan Jack this season.

And he looks good in game situations too.
Take, for example, his passing display in the 3-2 win over Angers SCO in October.
Zungu completed 93% of his passes, and the pass map above illustrates just how effective he was at commanding the game.
Sitting just in front of the back four, his distribution was solid and frequent, and there are more than enough forward passes in there to get excited about too.
But it’s in his defensive duties where he really shines.
Against Marseille in March, for instance, he made a massive 12 interceptions, including three in his own area.
That would suggest that he is a player who reads danger well and reacts effectively to snuff it out.
Zungu also recovered the ball a further 16 times in that match, but perhaps the most impressive thing is that nine of those incidents came in the opposition half.
Again, it’s clear that he can anticipate a threat, but it’s also pleasing to know that he is able to step out of his deeper role and win the ball back further up the field.
That proactiveness can be hugely beneficial to attackers, as well as keeping the ball well away from his own danger areas.
In short, Zungu looks like a decent talent, and if Steven Gerrard is looking for cover in defensive midfield, he could probably do a lot worse.
