Ibrox Exclusive: Alex Bruce hails Rangers after 32,000 season ticket sales

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has claimed that Rangers selling 32,000 season tickets for the 2020/21 campaign is testament to the kind of club that they are.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender suggested that the influx of fans who are willing to commit themselves to the Gers in such uncertain circumstances is a reflection of the major status that the Glaswegian giants hold.

As of last weekend, the Bears had confirmed that 32,000 fans had renewed their tickets for next term, despite there being no concrete indication as to if or when they will be allowed back inside Ibrox amid the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.

And Bruce has been left seriously impressed by the loyalty of the fanbase, throwing his support behind the club as they look to prevent Celtic from winning a 10th consecutive league title.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said: “That’s why Rangers are one of the biggest clubs around.

“When you hear things like that after everything that’s gone on – people losing jobs, being furloughed, stuff like that – the fact that they can still pull in those numbers, achieving those sales of season tickets, it tells you exactly what kind of club Rangers is.

“I hope, for one, that they go and achieve good things at Rangers this season because those supporters deserve it because they’ve been through the ringer.”

At the present moment, Rangers have stated that they are tentatively hoping that some fans may be allowed back inside grounds from late August.

That process would then be subject to a gradual increase, but would be fully dependant on governmental guidelines.
