Billy Dodds claims Lyndon Dykes would be ‘perfect buy’ for Rangers this summer

Billy Dodds has claimed that Lyndon Dykes would be the “perfect buy” for Rangers this summer.

The Gers are keen to snap up the Livingston hitman in the coming weeks, and have identified him as a top transfer target, according to the Scottish Sun.

The 24-year-old has hit 12 goals and 10 assists for his current employers this season, and Dodds has argued that he has all the qualities needed to be a hit at Ibrox.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, he said: “I think Rangers should go and try and bring in Lyndon Dykes.

“He is getting better all of the time and he has plenty of years ahead of him.

“Dykes has all the attributes you would need to be a top player and he would get more chances to add more goals to his game at Ibrox.

“He is the perfect buy for Rangers and the type of player that Gerrard is going to need if he is to stop Celtic.”

Would Dykes be the “perfect” man for the Gers this summer?

There’s a lot of hype around the Livingston man, and it’s easy to see why.

Physical and always a handful, Ibrox News pundit Alex Bruce has even claimed that the 24-year-old is the most impressive striker he played against outside of the Old Firm during his own time in Scotland.

And he’s not the only one who has been blown away by Dykes.

Ex-Motherwell captain Peter Hartley has argued that the forward embodies “everything that a centre-has hates”, while Mark Wilson has labelled him a “breath of fresh air”.

Clearly, he would pose a different kind of threat to the less physically imposing Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe, and if the price is right and the deal is doable, it could be a smart idea for Steven Gerrard to diversify his frontline if his side are to challenge Celtic next term.
