'Very good signing for Rangers' – Exclusive: Bruce delivers verdict on Premiership hitman

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has said that Livingston striker Lyndon Dykes would be a ‘very good signing for Rangers’.

He also said that Dykes was the most impressive striker he’s come up against in the Premiership outside of the Old Firm.

Rangers were linked with a move for Dykes late on in the January window, but a move didn’t materialise.

The Daily Mail has now claimed that Rangers will face competition for Dykes from Stoke – and Bruce thinks Celtic might be looking at him too.

Talking to Ibrox News, Bruce said, “He’s a good player. He’s definitely got good attributes. I think he’d be a very good signing for Rangers.

“He impressed me when I played against him. He’s a physical lad. He did very well against us. Out of all the strikers I played against up in Scotland, he was the one who probably impressed me the most outside of the Old Firm.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if both Rangers and Celtic are looking at him, as well as teams down south as well.

“He’s definitely one, if they lost Morelos, they would be looking at.”

If Rangers do lose Morelos they’ll need to be very careful who they bring in to replace him.

Defoe is 37 and Morelos has been top scorer for a while now.

Dykes has impressed with 12 goals in 33 games this season but playing for Rangers is on an entirely different level.
