Hartley claims signing Dykes would be ‘great coup’ for Rangers
Peter Hartley has claimed that it would be a “great coup” for Rangers if they could land Lyndon Dykes this summer.
The Livingston striker has 12 goals for his current employers this term, and has emerged as a potential target for the Gers, as per The Scottish Sun.
And ex-Motherwell captain Hartley has suggested that the 24-year-old has the potential to be a real asset for the Glaswegian giants, if they can snap him up.
Speaking to the Scottish Sun, he said: “He [Dykes] has got everything a centre-half hates.
“He doesn’t give up a lost cause, he’s physically strong, he can beat any centre-half in the air, his first touch is quality and he also knows where the back of the net is.
“I found him irritating, but I always appreciated how hard he worked.
“If Rangers were to get him I’d see that as a great coup because he’s a good, good player. He’d definitely add value.”
Would Dykes be a good signing for the Gers?
We think so, yes.
Hartley certainly isn’t the first pundit to heap praise on Dykes.
Earlier this year Mark Wilson claimed the hitman was a “breath of fresh air”, while Alex Bruce has previously told Ibrox News that the forward would be a “very good signing” for the Gers.
The recurring themes of any analysis on the player are his work ethic and raw physicality.
Having a striker who will harry and hassle defender is never a bad thing, and given the fact that he has hit double figures for the season shows that he is more than a threat in front of goal too.
We would be over the moon if we could get a deal over the line for a striker of his calibre and potential this summer.
