‘Absolute nonsense’ – Ally McCoist fires back at Rod Stewart over Rangers comments
Ally McCoist has hit back at Celtic-mad Rod Stewart over his accusations that Rangers are currently acting with “bad sportsmanship” against the Hoops.
The Parkhead fanatic launched a furious rant against the Gers during a recent appearance on talkSPORT, suggesting that their ongoing battle with the SPFL was designed to stop the Bhoys from winning a ninth consecutive league title.
Stewart slammed the Ibrox club for their “childish” attempts at forcing the governing body to conclude the domestic season as initially planned, rather than bringing it to an end early.

But McCoist has jumped to the defence of his former side.
Speaking on talkSPORT, as quoted by the Scottish Sun, he said: “That is nonsense from Rod there, absolute nonsense.
“You can’t give anybody anything, you have got to earn it, you have got to win it.
“To be honest with you, I don’t understand where Rod is coming from there in terms of Rangers ‘causing all the hassle’.
“In fact, Rangers and Celtic have been consistent in their views in that where possible they both want the season to finish. So I don’t understand it. Rangers clearly want that to happen and I’l tell you right now so do Celtic.”

Is McCoist in the right here?
Absolutely, yes.
Celtic chief Peter Lawwell has previously gone on record stating that the Hoops are eager for the season to be completed if possible, maintaining that the SPFL must find a “reasonable solution” to this ongoing confusion.
Rangers are essentially asking for the same thing.
The only real point at which their stances differ is in the demand for an independent inquiry into the ballot that ended the lower league season early.
But even then, that isn’t some kind of ploy to deny Celtic a title.
The fact is that most Rangers fans are realistic enough to admit that it would take a minor miracle for us to overtake the Hoops from our current position in the table.
Instead, this is a question of holding the governing body to account for a voting process that has caused no end of hassle because of its blatant mishandling.
Demanding that scrutiny is a justifiable thing to do, and is far more important than whether Celtic win nine-in-a-row or not.
