Report – English club plot imminent swoop for Rangers 22y/o

Portsmouth are keen on making Ross McCrorie’s loan deal from Rangers permanent whenever the football season resumes, according to the Scottish Sun

The 22-year-old has impressed during his stint with the League One outfit this campaign, making 22 appearances for the promotion chasers.

And it is understood that he has shone enough to convince chiefs at Fratton Park that he is worth pursuing on a full-time basis.

Pompey chief executive Mark Catlin told the Sun: “I think all of those four lads, in common with the team, have done really well this year.

“If the league continues, in regard to the contracts, all of that needs to be thought about.”

McCrorie still has two years left to run on his current contract at Ibrox, and was recently diagnosed with a mild strain of Covid-19, as per the BBC.

Should Rangers sell McCrorie?

As a general rule of thumb, if a side are trying to sign a player off the back of his loan spell, he must be doing something right – that’s just common sense.

At 22, McCrorie still has plenty of growing left in him, and you would be tempted to argue that the Gers should resist the urge to offload him just yet.

So far this term he has averaged 4.86 successful dribbles per game, as per Wyscout, much higher than his career average of 2.37, as well as winning more duels per match and averaging more successful actions too.

Clearly, his output is moving in the right direction, and it could prove to be a costly error to sell him on now.

Bring him back, give him a chance at Ibrox, and let’s see just how much potential he actually has.
