Ibrox Exclusive: ‘Watch this space’ – Alex Bruce reacts to reported Rangers plot for PL 28y/o

We’re delighted to welcome former Scottish Premiership defender Alex Bruce as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers…

Alex Bruce has claimed that Liverpool star Nathaniel Clyne would be a good signing for Rangers if Steven Gerrard could engineer such a deal.

Speaking exclusively to Ibrox News, the former Kilmarnock defender also suggested that a move for the 28-year-old could lead to an exit for club captain James Tavernier.

Football Insider reported earlier in the week that the Gers were keen to make a move for the full-back, who is understood to be on a salary of £70,000-a-week.

And Bruce believes that he would be a a good addition to the squad at Ibrox.

Speaking to Ibrox News, he said:“He’s not done much over the past couple of years, for one reason or another, but he’s definitely got good pedigree, good attributes.

“He’d be a good signing for Rangers.

“If they signed someone like him and the rumours are true, it would be interesting to see what happens and what the knock on effect would be for James Tavernier as well.

“Watch this space, see what happens.”

Clyne has struggled with injuries in recent times, and has yet to make a senior appearance for Liverpool so far this season.

He spent the second half of last season on loan at Bournemouth, making 15 appearances across all competitions and providing on assist.
