‘Easy to imagine’ – Jackie McNamara claims Ibrox loan exit is likely for Rangers 25y/o
Rangers have been perfectly forthright about their intentions to strip down their squad size this month.
The Gers have already gotten Serge Atakayi, Eros Grezda, and Andy King off the books at Ibrox, and according to manager Steven Gerrard, three or four more players could yet pack their bags and head for the exit door, as per Sky Sports.
One name that is being bandied about in that regard is Jordan Jones.
As per the Daily Record, the 25-year-old is a target for a number of English Championship clubs over the coming weeks, with a potential loan exit on the cards.
And according to Jackie McNamara, a January exit is quite likely.
Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “Jordan Jones I think possibly will be a more realistic exit compared to other players linked with sides and facing exits.
“Just because he’s not playing at Rangers and maybe someone is wanting a winger on loan.
“So it’s easy to imagine him going out on loan if he’s not going to play or not be in Gerrard’s plans from now until the summer.
“So it could be a realistic move if they want him out.”
Jones has only recently come back from injury after damaging his knee ligaments in the first Old Firm of the season back at the beginning of September.
Ultimately, the absence has meant that he hasn’t been able to make the impact that might have been expected of him when he first arrived from Kilmarnock over the summer.
There is definitely a talented player in there, of course, but he has fallen down the pecking order at Ibrox, and perhaps the best way for the wide man to transplant himself back into the boss’ plans is for him to go out and show him what he is capable of by playing regularly for another club.
A loan deal makes a lot of sense for both the player and the club.
