Ibrox View: Gerrard spot on to sanction exit for Rangers 26y/o after reported bid submitted

With January approaching, many Rangers fans will be casting their eyes on potential incomings rather than players who could leave the club.

With the Gers in a good position to continue their title challenge to arch-rivals Celtic, it may be more important to make sure Steven Gerrard keeps his current squad together.

Some players simply don’t have a future at Ibrox though, and the Gers should start looking to get rid of some dead-wood, a category goalkeeper Jak Alnwick falls into.

Football Insider have reported on Tuesday that Blackpool have lodged a five-figure offer for the goalkeeper to sign him permanently in January.

The reputable football outlet claim on their website that the Light Blues are ready to listen to offers for the rarely-used stopper.

It is suggested that there is growing confidence that a deal could be completed between the two sides that is worth less than £100,000.

That is a massive sign that Alnwick is deemed surplus to requirements at Ibrox, and that he certainly doesn’t have a future at Ibrox past this season at least.

Gerrard is spot on to sanction an exit for the 26-year-old, who despite impressing on loan with Blackpool is a long way off making a big enough impression to cement a spot at Rangers ahead of Alan McGregor.
