'Worst of the worst' - These Rangers fans react as Old Firm referee revealed
It might be Christmas this week, but let’s be honest, there’s something much more exciting happening at Parkhead on Sunday.
Rangers make the trip across Glasgow to face their bitterest rivals knowing that a win would put them to within two points of Celtic with that crucial game in hand.
It promises to be a belated Christmas cracker, and it could be decided by the finest of margins.
On that basis, it is understandable there is so much attention being focussed on who the man in the middle will be.
It was announced on Monday that Kevin Clancy will officiate the clash, and it’s fair to say that a lot of Rangers fans aren’t too ecstatic at the prospect.
So far this season, the 36-year-old has handed out a total of 91 yellow and five red cards in just 22 matches, as per Transfermarkt, and you have to ask yourself whether somebody with such a tendency to go to his pocket is the right man to oversee one of the feistiest games in world football.
If Clancy gets too trigger happy then it could lead to a disjointed affair, and one that could ultimately prevent either side from building any momentum.
Of course, that could benefit the Gers as the away team, but if we are to take all three points, you get the impression that a war of attrition is more likely to favour the home side.
Hopefully Clancy doesn’t become the star man on an afternoon that should be about the better side winning out.
Here’s what some Bears have been saying on social media…
A cowardly ref who shys away from making any real decisions. Great
