Steven Gerrard has delivered a clean bill of health for Rangers after the 3-0 win over Hearts in the League Cup semi-final.

Gerrard was talking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the huge game in the Europa League against Porto on Thursday evening.

He said that the only player missing would be Jordan Jones, who hasn’t featured since a self-inflicted injury from a reckless tackle that also saw him sent off in the Old Firm game back at the start of September.

That’s good news and Gerrard also paid tribute to Alfredo Morelos who he said “scored a fantastic goal out there [in the first leg] and was denied by a world-class save”.

Ryan Kent was also on speaking duty today and he said that while he’s almost 100%, he’s not quite at 90 minutes, and Gerrard will continue to manage his game-time as he comes back from injury.

He should start on Thursday and he also name-checked Morelos as a player in “great form”.

Kent said that it was up to him to provide the opportunities for Morelos at Ibrox on Thursday and added that the relationship between the two players – which will be vital if Rangers want to kick on and win the league – is getting “better and better”.

Rangers start the game in second place in Group G, two points behind Young Boys at the top. The group is still wide open though, with just one point separating Rangers from Feyenoord at the bottom.

Feyenoord host Young Boys in the other Europa game tomorrow night and both games kick off at 8pm
