Chris Sutton might have spent most of Thursday night celebrating the performance from the other side of Glasgow, but he took time out to pay tribute to Rangers after their battling 1-1 draw against Porto.
Alfredo Morelos scored the equalising goal just before half-time and Rangers had chances to win it in the second 45.
We would have taken a draw before the game, which leaves us in a strong second spot in the group, but by the end Steven Gerrard’s men could have snuck it.
That’s the view of Sutton, too, who said on Twitter, “Good performance from Rangers… deserved more.”
He also accused the Porto players of diving – if only the ref last night had been as good at spotting it.

BBC Sportsound pundit Tam McManus, after predicting a 2-0 win for Porto, praised the Rangers equaliser saying, “Magnificent goal from start to finish to be fair.”

Unfortunately, he got the Celtic score correct.
The next Europa game is Porto at home on November 7, but between now and then there are two Premiership games and a cup semi-final against Hearts to go.
