Charlie Nicholas predicts Porto v Rangers

Charlie Nicholas has predicted that Rangers are going to come “unstuck” when they travel to play Porto in the Europa League clash on Thursday afternoon.

Writing in his regular column on Sky Sports, Nicholas highlighted James Tavernier as being weak defensively.

“Rangers are going well,” Nicholas said.

“They are scoring lots of goals, but are a bit frail defensively. James Tavernier is a bit weak defensively compared to what he is going forward. That does create its own problems.

“Rangers do not have the craft or knowledge to get through these games when they do not see a lot of the ball, so this is where they may come unstuck.”

Nicholas has predicted that Rangers won’t score in the game and that Porto will come out on top 2-0.

It couldn’t be any tighter in Group G at the moment, with all four teams on three points after a win and a loss in the opening two games.

Porto are actually bottom of the group, just behind Rangers, and will be desperate for a win at the Estádio do Dragão.

They’ve won their last five league games and are in third in the Primeira Liga, one point behind Famalicao.
