Tochi Chukwuani may be staring at an uncertain future at Rangers.

The Gers signed the Denmark Under-21 international for around £4million in the winter transfer window, but it remains to be seen what role he will play under Derek McInnes.

After featuring heavily for the Light Blues in the second half of last season, he was left on the bench for the opening game of the new campaign against Dundee United.

Chukwuani watched from the bench as McInnes' men dropped points at Tannadice Park in a 1-1 draw.

Cammy Devlin and Mohamed Diomande started as the double pivot in Dundee, while Dan Neil came off the bench for the second half.

The 23-year-old Danish youngster may already have to look for pastures new as the Scottish manager rebuilds the Govan side.

With the Glaswegian outfit pushing to sign several midfield targets, it certainly wouldn't be surprising to see the Danish ace leave.

Speaking on the Rangers Review on 3 August, McFarlane said, "Chukwuani, I WhatsApped Adam Thornton about a month ago, and I said, 'hot take time'. And I said, 'I have doubts Chukwuani will be at Rangers by the end of the transfer window'.

"And I look at that midfield and he seems to be quite far out of it."
