Speaking on Open Goal on 7 September, Halliday said: "Why are you letting Aasgaard go on loan? Del was raving about him at the start of the season. You don't let him go on loan.
"If Anderlecht come in and say here's £8m up front, fair enough. But don't go on a loan for a year with an option. Stop letting people go with an option because they're not going to take it."
Why Derek McInnes decided to let Thelo Aasgaard leave
Some Rangers fans initially raised concerns about Aasgaard's exit because the club lacked creative options in the middle of the park.
McInnes now has Minsu Kim as an option for the number 10 position and the South Korean youngster's first three games playing behind the striker have produced some impressive moments.
Badredine Bouanani can also play as an attacking-midfielder ahead of the double pivot, with the Scottish manager preferring a 4-2-3-1 setup at the Gers.
Aasgaard seemed to be a key part of McInnes' plans in Govan at the start of the season, but quickly lost his influence and it made sense to let him leave, although a permanent transfer would've been a better deal overall.
