Why Rangers were 'forced' in Cammy Devlin transfer race after groundbreaking offer
Cammy Devlin looks set to become the next arrival at Rangers this summer.
Despite his impending signature, fans at Ibrox are split on whether the Australian is actually needed.
Of course, Derek McInnes knows him perfectly from their time together at Hearts, but there are still question marks.
Those at Tynecastle still haven't forgiven McInnes, or Lawrence Shankland, but a third deal in that direction could tip them over the edge.
Devlin is now officially a free agent, with Hearts confirming that a deadline given to agree another deal passed.
And it's that deadline that's worked perfectly for Rangers.
Rangers forced into Cammy Devlin action, this is why
Devlin was assessing his options ahead of the new contract deadline in Edinburgh, but it gave Rangers an open door.
Ewen Cameron has been hugely vocal of his rage this summer, with the Bears simply raiding his beloved Hearts.
The radio presenter has now shared on X that the Jambo's deadline for Devlin "forced" Rangers hand.
He went on to say that Devlin "will sign" for the Gers.
Groundbreaking offer revealed for Cammy Devlin
Hearts fans may try not to act bothered, but the truth is, they tried all they could to keep Devlin and it wasn't enough.
The Australian looks destined for Ibrox, and he will join a heavily packed midfield that will need departures.
But it wasn't for the want of trying.
The Scottish Daily Mail reported in its print edition on Saturday that Hearts actually offered to make Devlin their highest paid player.
Ironically, he would have replaced Shankland with that title.
But, it wasn't enough, and Rangers look to have swooped in and dismantled this Hearts side that overtook them last season.
McInnes now must look at his squad and who could move on, with plenty of new faces coming in.
There are doubts around Nicolas Raskin, Connor Barron and Mohamed Diomande, so it wouldn't be a surprise to see them move.
Either way, it looks like Devlin will be next through the doors at Ibrox, with the 49ers and Andrew Cavenagh delivering once again for their manager.
