Rangers: Everything Derek McInnes has said about Cammy Devlin as Ibrox reunion awaits final call
Rangers have been tipped to sign Cammy Devlin after his contract with Hearts expired, and Derek McInnes could be keen on a reunion at Ibrox.
The Bears want to add another midfielder to their ranks, but it may be a position that is assessed right down until the final day of the transfer window.
However, if the Gers want to sign Devlin, they'll need to make a move soon, as he is set to make a decision about his future after his World Cup campaign with Australia concludes.
The 28-year-old has offers on the table from several MLS sides, including another deal from Hearts, who would like for the midfielder to stay.
He is officially a free agent, and nothing is stopping the Light Blues from reaching out to his representatives over a move to come work under the new Gers boss.
Rangers have been backed to offer Devlin a contract, but it may all depend on whether McInnes is keen on re-signing his former Tynecastle warrior, or if other targets are desired instead.
This is what Derek McInnes has said about Cammy Devlin
McInnes has already been reunited with Lawrence Shankland at Rangers, as the pair both played a crucial role in Hearts' title-challenging campaign last season.
Now, there is a belief that Rangers have already held talks with Devlin, according to Daily Record journalist, Keith Jackson.
McInnes has previously been full of praise for the Aussie, who could compete for a starting spot at Ibrox, should he sign for the Bears.
The ex-Hearts praised Devlin in December 2025 while speaking to BBC Sport Scotland and said: "He's been consistently brilliant for me, he's a big part of what we are.
"He's one of those players that's a dying breed, his performances have been first class."
McInnes has also admitted how he saw Devlin as a "significant" part of the Jambos' setup last season, and how his presence was missed in the middle of the park whenever he was absent.
It would be surprising to see McInnes go against offering Devlin a deal at Ibrox, especially considering how Rangers have already been linked with a move to sign him.
Rangers should have Hearts transfer limit
The Bears have already cherry picked Shankland and McInnes from Tynecastle Park.
Adding Devlin to their ranks would be a third steal from the Jambos already, but Rangers must exercise some caution.
Though Devlin may get straight into Rangers' starting lineup, Andrew Cavenagh and Co. must not forget that McInnes ultimately failed to win the league with his Hearts side.
That must show that not all of them are cut out for title success at Ibrox, and so they should limit themselves from signing any other players from the Jambos, if Devlin were to join.
After that, the Bears should focus on giving McInnes a new formula to go and get the Light Blues back on top of Scottish football.
