Cammy Devlin is set to make a decision on his future, as Rangers have been mooted to make an offer for the Australia international.

The midfielder is now officially a free agent after his deal with Hearts expired, and it's far from a guarantee that he re-signs with the Jambos.

Devlin is currently participating in this year's World Cup with his nation, Australia, and will have his future at the club level in the back of his mind.

The Bears have already completed the double swoop of Lawrence Shankland and Derek McInnes, and some want Devlin to be next to complete the Hearts triangle.

The 28-year-old played an integral role for McInnes at Tynecastle Park, but the pair just came up short in their efforts to win the league for the Jambos.

Now, Rangers could swoop in and steal Devlin right before he agrees to stay with Hearts, but the Gers will face competition.

McInnes will have the likes of Nicolas Raskin, Tochi Chukwuani, Mohamed Diomande and Connor Barron to choose from in central midfield.

However, it is highly likely that Andrew Cavenagh will sanction a move for an additional midfielder or two this summer, with Devlin tipped to come to Ibrox.

It won't be as straightforward as it was for the Bears to land Shankland and McInnes, though, with Devlin a sought-after target for many sides.

According to the Daily Record, Devlin will make a decision on his future after his World Cup campaign with Australia concludes.

MLS side Real Salt Lake lead a three-way American chase for the Aussie, with their offer said to be the biggest on the table right now.

Chicago Fire and Seattle Sounders have both shown an interest, but Devlin remains in talks with Hearts over staying in Gorgie for a while longer yet.

Who would need to leave to open space for Devlin?

Assuming McInnes will deploy a two-man midfield as he did with Hearts, Rangers may need to make some midfield changes this summer.

Devlin was the perfect mould of what the 54-year-old manager looks for in the middle of the park, in someone who could do all aspects of the game to a good standard.

Players like Chukwuani and Barron are limited going forward, though they could still act as important players to allow their midfield partner to roam forward.

However, Diomande could be the biggest casualty, with McInnes preferring physicality in the middle of the park.
