Rangers finally look in position to strike Cammy Devlin deal amid Derek McInnes latest
Rangers are looking to reset over the summer, and they may just do so by adding Cammy Devlin amid the latest on Derek McInnes.
The midfielder's current deal at Hearts expires this summer, after he played a huge part in taking the Jambos to within a hair's breadth of winning the Scottish Premiership.
Said to have multiple offers on the table, the Australian has a big decision to make in the coming weeks.
At 28, the coming move will likely be the one to set up the prime and final years of his career - emphasising the importance
Suffering from an ankle injury at the season's midway point, Devlin would be limited to 28 appearances in the league, though he did prove crucial for Hearts whenever used.
And after the latest news surrounding Hearts boss McInnes, Rangers may have just gained the upper hand ahead of the summer.
What has been said about Derek McInnes and Rangers?
With planning underway for the 2026-27 term, the Gers have had to get back to the drawing board over the weekend.
Boss Danny Rohl has been heavily linked with a move to Austrian side RB Salzburg, with a switch reportedly all but announced.
With this in mind, it has been widely reported that Hearts boss McInnes will replace him at Ibrox.
The Gers were also said to have been interested in Steven Gerrard, who guided the club to the title in 2021, but it is reported that McInnes has been the only man directly involved with the club for talks.
Devlin was linked with Rangers earlier in the year, but ultimately nothing more came of that.
But with Devlin's future up in the air, he may opt for a Rangers move thanks to this news, following in the footsteps of Lawrence Shankland, who also arrives on a free transfer from Edinburgh.
Danny Rohl departure may be a blessing in disguise for Rangers
Naturally, the news of Rohl's pending exit has been far from ideal.
With the pre-season return coming soon, planning was well underway ahead of the new term, with the current Rangers boss central to these ideas.
However, it could well be a blessing in disguise.
In Shankland, and potentially McInnes and Devlin, the Gers could be adding three real characters, with the potential for more over the window.
For all the quality shown at times, the Govan side ultimately missed out on the title when the going got tough - losing four matches in a row heading into the final day.
Bringing in players who understand the league and its challenges was always going to be pivotal this summer, and the arrival of McInnes could well get the ball rolling in that regard.
