Why Rangers have upperhand on Celtic

No European football at Ibrox is a complete shock, and nowhere near good enough.

With Celtic and Hearts both qualifying for the Europa League and Conference League respectively, it speeds up transfer plans.

As Anthony Joseph has shared, those two now have until 11pm on Wednesday to register new signings for Europe.

The Sky Sports journalist classes it as Celtic's own deadline day, while Rangers have until 5pm on 3 September.

Of course, all Scottish clubs do, but if they can't register them for all competitions, it's a pointless addition.

It could give Rangers 18 hours more to get their business done.

While they haven't made any yet, there is no room for more errors now.

Rangers and McInnes simply have to win the Scottish Premiership, and at least one domestic cup to make this season a success.
