Why Rangers can see the wider picture with Paul Nsio as latest Ibrox exit close

Rangers are set to send young midfielder Paul Nsio out on loan once again in a move that should have long-term benefits.

The 20-year-old has made two senior appearances for the Gers, both coming in the 2024-25 campaign.

Nsio spent last season on loan in the Scottish Championship with Raith Rovers.

After initially being left out of the squad due to a lack of fitness, he went on to become a regular.

That playing time is something Nsio looks set to profit from once again this coming campaign.

But only after Rangers first show their faith in the youngster.

What's been said about Paul Nsio's future at Rangers?

Nsio signed a new deal at Ibrox prior to heading out on loan 10 months ago.

As covered by Ibrox News in May, Nsio refused to rule out another loan exit from Rangers.

And as reported by the Daily Record on Monday evening, Rangers are to again offer Nsio a new deal before loaning him out.

The report claims that he is likely to join St Mirren on a temporary basis.

With St Mirren in the Scottish Premiership, this can be considered the next step in the youngster's development.

Derek McInnes has used Nsio this summer, but it is clear he is better off playing regularly elsewhere this coming campaign.

Barry Ferguson had different loan destination in mind for Nsio

Former Rangers caretaker Barry Ferguson has been impressed by what he has seen from Nsio.

Ferguson agreed Kilmarnock would be a good place for Nsio when asked a couple of months back.

"I think it's important that these boys do go out and experience proper football first and foremost, so when they come back, they're ready, hopefully, to get into the first team," Ferguson added.

St Mirren is an equally as good move for the defender, who qualifies for both England and DR Congo.

It is now over to Nsio to show what he is capable of at a higher level, assuming this move goes through, in the hope he can potentially be squad ready for Rangers this time next year.
