According to the Rangers Review on 27 August, Girona wanted to keep Kim within the City Football Group structure, while Strasbourg also expressed an interest in him.

Eventually, the Light Blues won the race for the young forward's signature and knew they had to do it quickly.

Had the South Korean attacker played a few additional minutes for Girona's first team, his release clause would've expired.

Why Ibrox hierarchy may have left it late this transfer window

It has been evident for some time that Rangers desperately need reinforcements in specific areas of the pitch.

After Oliver Antman and Nedim Bajrami's departures, McInnes lacked options out wide.

Daisuke Yokota came in through the doors at the start of August, with Djeidi Gassama and Findlay Curtis the only other two wingers the Scottish manager seems to count on.
