Rangers are weighing up for a move for Rodez AF striker Ibrahima Balde before the end of the transfer window.

The Gers are in the hunt for another striker option before the close of the window in Scotland on 3 September.

Derek McInnes wants another option in the final third to complement his current options of Ryan Naderi, Lawrence Shankland, and Bojan Miovski.

Rangers' need for another central striker option was exacerbated by a season-ending injury to Youssef Chermiti.

Chermiti lad been linked with a big-money exit to Galatasaray before sustaining an injury against Hibernian earlier this month.

Rangers' search has led them to the French second tier, with their focus changing after the latest involving their pursuit of Kim Min-su.

What's the latest with Rangers' move for Kim Min-su?

Rangers have been extremely active in the transfer market, making 11 signings so far to strengthen McInnes' squad.

That is imminently about to become 12, with Girona winger Kim on his way to Ibrox.

Belgian transfer journalist Sacha Tavolieri reported that the Gers have agreed an initial £8.5million fee with £1.7m in add-ons.

He stated that Kim is set to sign a five-year contract, with the formalities of his medical to follow.

Tavolieri then followed up to say that the Gers have identified 23-year-old Balde as their next signing.

He said that while no offer has been made yet, the Rodez AF striker is currently the "frontrunner" and the deal is "one to watch".

Who is Rangers target Ibrahima Balde?

The Gers have been linked with several striker and winger options during the window.

Balde is a new name to monitor, and fans will not know a great deal about the 23-year-old.

He is playing in the French second tier currently, but he caught the eye last weekend by scoring a hat-trick as Rodez AF defeated Nantes 5-2.

Balde came through the youth ranks of Lens, making a first-team breakthrough in 2021 before later joining Annecy on loan.

He made a permanent move to Rodez in 2024, and represented France at Under-17 level back in 2019.
