Where Rangers stand in Amario Cozier-Duberry chase after new Jahnoah Markelo approach
Rangers have ramped up their search for a new winger amid links with Brighton's Amario Cozier-Duberry and Coventry City's Jahnoah Markelo.
Cozier-Duberry has been on the Gers' radar for a while now, whereas links to Markelo have only emerged this week.
Ibrox News relayed information on Tuesday afternoon of Markelo being wanted at Rangers.
Markelo only arrived at Coventry in January, but he made just five appearances in the second half of 2025-26 and may be allowed to leave.
Rangers want the winger on a season-long loan, which could directly impact on the pursuit of Cozier-Duberry.
A new update has now emerged out of Ibrox regarding how the Gers' transfer business may yet play out.
Rangers' next priority clear after Olwethu Makhanya
Philadelphia Union centre-back Olwethu Makhanya is expected to become Rangers' eighth signing of the summer.
Focus will then turn to the wide areas, where Derek McInnes is lacking in depth.
As per Rangers Review, the Gers' approach for Markelo does not look likely to have any impact on the Cozier-Duberry pursuit.
The Brighton winger is said to "remain under consideration", with the Seagulls yet to make a decision over his future.
It means the Light Blues could have two new wingers in place before the window closes.
Who would be the better signing between Cozier-Duberry and Markelo?
In truth, not a great deal was known about either player prior to being linked with Rangers.
Rangers fans were excited by links with Cozier-Duberry, however, as he is a player Jack Wilshere once hailed as "unplayable".
Those quotes were prior to Cozier-Duberry departing Arsenal for Brighton in 2024.
After spells on loan at Blackburn Rovers and more recently Brighton, who he helped fire to promotion to the English Championship, he looks ready for the next step in his career.
Markelo seems a bit further back in his development, although he clearly did something to get his move to Coventry in their promotion-winning campaign.
If it's a choice between the two, Cozier-Duberry seems the best option. But if the Gers can land both, that really would improve McInnes' attacking options considerably.
