When Rangers could sign Amario Cozier-Duberry as talks officially open with Brighton

Rangers are pushing ahead with their interest in Brighton winger Amario Cozier-Duberry.

The Gers are looking to add quality in the wide areas, with that one of their weakest points of the squad.

Vaclav Cerny is one of the options that emerged but it seems Cozier-Duberry could now arrive first.

Ibrox News has previously shared that Cozier-Duberry was on Rangers' shortlist, but progress has now advanced on this deal.

The start of the Scottish Premiership is now closing in and Derek McInnes will want as much of his squad in place.

And whether or not the Englishman could arrive before then has emerged.

According to Record Sport on Monday, Rangers are now in official discussions to sign Cozier-Duberry.

The Brighton winger was subject to a £5million bid from Anderlecht, but that offer was rebuffed by the Seagulls.

As things stand, the report shares that it is not clear what type of deal Rangers are looking to land, whether it is a permanent or a loan move.

The feeling at the south coast club is that the Englishman could sign a new contract first, before being allowed to temporarily exit.

Cozier-Duberry does not have an immediate future at Brighton, with Fabian Hurzeler feeling he is not yet ready for first-team action.

However, McInnes is said to be "certain" that he would be ready and would be a regular feature in his Rangers line-up.

A deal, though, is unlikely to be finalised before Friday's opening league fixture.

Should Rangers be worried about too much change?

If a deal for Cozier-Duberry, Rangers' transfer window could see them add 10 players to their squad.

The same report by the Daily Record shares that McInnes is hopeful of adding two more players, separate from the Brighton man, before Friday's opening match.

Due to Rangers' model of signing multiple players on loan, they have been forced to find these solutions to replace those voids in the squad.
