What Robbie Ure has said about Rangers return as Euro exploits continue
Robbie Ure has left the door wide open to a possible return to Rangers in the future.
An Auchenhowie graduate, Ure began his youth career with Rangers before signing a two-year contract extension in June 2021.
The young striker was evidently held in high regard around Ibrox, and would make his first-team debut in August 2022 in a League Cup match against Queen of the South, in which he scored his only Gers goal.
Ure would only go on to make two more competitive senior appearances for the Bears, before turning down a new deal in May 2023 before signing with Belgian giants Anderlecht that same summer.
Things didn't really work out for him in Belgium though, making just one first-team appearance for Anderlecht.
However, he's really started to kick on ever since joining Swedish outfit Sirius in March 2025, with his goalscoring form in Allsvenskan leading some to ponder whether Rangers may be looking to reunite with him.
Why Robbie Ure isn't ready for Rangers return - yet
The ones that get away are always tough to stomach for football clubs and fans alike, and Ure has been one of them for Rangers.
In 46 games for Sirius in all competitions, the now-22-year-old has scored 27 goals, leading him to establish himself as one of the best strikers in Swedish football.
Gers chiefs have put some significant investment into the striker position in recent times with the likes of Youssef Chermiti, Ryan Naderi, Bojan Miovski and Lawrence Shankland respectively.
Even so, you can never really have enough goalscorers, especially when looking to finally deliver another Scottish Premiership title as Derek McInnes' men will be looking to do next season.
As a result, it remains to be seen whether Rangers will look to add another striker before the summer window shuts, but judging from what Ure has said about a possible return to Glasgow, it wouldn't be him - or not yet anyway.
"It was difficult because I had been in the [Rangers] Under-21s for two years," he said via BBC Sport. "I'd seen a lot of players older than me get to that stage and then drop off.
"I just thought that the next thing I wanted to do was go abroad. Test myself as a footballer, but also as a person.
"It's something that I'm going be interested in (a transfer move), if I think it's the right thing for me. But we have to just wait and see. It's a long summer in the transfer window.
"Until I'm told otherwise, I need to help Sirius. If we continue playing like we have been, then I think it could be a really special season.
"At the moment, I don't think I would come back to Scotland. One day, you never know. I'd love to return to Rangers.
"That's just me trying to test myself and see what league I can go to. I feel like I'm in a really good position and I just need to keep going.
"That was the plan when I first came to Sweden, to develop as a player and go on to bigger things. Until then, I need to stay focused and I need to keep proving myself."
Ure is on pace for remarkable 2026 season
As of right now, there is simply no striker in Sweden's Allsvenskan more deadly than Ure.
Sirius sit top of the Swedish top flight after 11 games, nine points clear of Hammarby and Hacken in second and third respectively.
Ure has played in every single one of those 11 games so far, and almost every minute of the campaign too, and he's found the back of the net 11 times already.
His last outing, an instant classic 4-4 draw with Mjallby on 3 July, saw him score all four of Sirius' goals that day.
Teams play 30 games a season in Allsvenskan, so it doesn't take a mathematician to work out that the former Rangers talent is on pace to hit as many goals in 2026.
Ure doesn't appear to feel ready to leave Sweden just yet, and why would he be in any rush when he's playing at the level he is over there?
Sirius will surely feel a sense of inevitability that he will depart eventually though, and when that time comes, Rangers will surely be putting themselves in the running to secure his services once again.
