Rangers must be kicking themselves after losing Robbie Ure.

The 22-year-old left Ibrox in May 2023, rejecting a contract offer from his boyhood club.

He moved to Anderlecht, initially being placed with their futures team, before ending up with IK Sirius in Sweden.

Former Rangers prodigy Ure is being eyed for a return to the United Kingdom, but there is also interested from abroad.

He will surely not be with the Blue-Black for much longer, as his form is being noticed.

However, the Light Blues must regret letting him leave, as has shown that all he needed was time to develop.

What clubs want to sign former Rangers man Robbie Ure?

Ure has notched 11 goals this season, in just 11 matches, and he scored four as Sirius drew 4-4 with reigning champions Mjallby on Friday.

His exploits have not gone under the radar, as Champions League clubs Red Bull Salzburg and Lyon have been monitoring him, according to the Scotsman.

Hoffenheim are named as another potential suitor for the former Govan man.

One thing is for sure, he put those sides on notice with his latest showing, and may have left the Gers feeling like they made a mistake.

Why Rangers will regret Ure exit

For starters, the Gers have spent huge amounts of the striker position in recent years, without much success.

The likes of Bojan Miovski, Ryan Naderi, Danilo, Cyriel Dessers and Sam Lammers arrived for a total figure of around £20million in recent years.

Youssef Chermiti, who cost £8.5m from Everton, looks to be coming good, with 11 goals in his first Scottish Premiership season, but there are still question marks.

Ure would perhaps have given them a reliable goalscorer without the need to enter the market so much.

Another reason that the G51 side will wish they had done things differently is that they could have been on the end of a high fee if they had kept him.

Instead, the Swedish side will be the ones who benefit, if he earns a switch to a very high-profile club in the near future, which looks like a foregone conclusion at this point.

Luckily, the Bears seem to be operating smarter under the 49ers Enterprises group and Andrew Cavenagh.
