What Rangers make of Jens Hjerto-Dahl and Jahnoah Markelo as double deal pondered

Rangers are continuing to follow Jens Hjerto-Dahl and Coventry City winger Jahnoah Markelo.

The Tromso midfielder and the Suriname international have been linked with a move to Ibrox.

There has been long-standing interest in the Norwegian ace and the 23-year-old right-winger at the Light Blues.

While Hjerto-Dahl and Markelo are targets at Ibrox, Derek McInnes may have a different view.

The Scottish manager is looking to reinforce his squad ahead of the opening game of the season against Dundee United on 31 July.

McInnes hinted at a couple of additions to the Glaswegian outfit's team before the trip to Tannadice Park, but it's unlikely to be Hjerto-Dahl or Markelo.

Ibrox News have covered reports of Rangers' recent pursuit of Jahnoah Markelo, who they've been following since last year before his move to Coventry in the winter transfer window.

Hjerto-Dahl has also consistently been mentioned as a transfer target at Ibrox.

While the recruitment department in G51 have been following the midfielder and forward, Keith Jackson has suggested they might not be concrete options for McInnes.

The Scottish manager could have the opportunity to consider the double transfer, but they may not be his preferred options to bolster the squad.

Speaking on Hotline Live on 28 July, Jackson said: "I think Rangers have explored [a deal for Hjerto-Dahl]. The recruitment department has been keeping an eye [on Markelo] for a while. I think Hjerto-Dahl might fall into the same category.

"I'm not sure he's a guy McInnes would instantly have said, 'I want him'. I think that he would get a chance to explore it, look into it, maybe even speak to the boy."

Why McInnes has no time to waste at Rangers

McInnes' first competitive game in charge of Rangers is just around the corner and there's still plenty of work to be done.

While the Gers have made multiple signings so far, there are still plenty of positions in the squad that need addressing.

Several defensive reinforcements are likely needed to have enough depth for next season.

In the midfield, work clearly needs to be done to offload players after signing Dan Neil, Cammy Devlin and Vanja Dragojevic.

When it comes to the Glaswegian outfit's attack, Oliver Antman looks set to leave Ibrox despite a lack of options in the area.

The Govan side have had plenty of time to explore deals, and now is the time to make concrete decisions in G51.
