Derek McInnes must incorporate Findlay Curtis into his Rangers plans.

The Scotland international enjoyed a magnificent loan spell at Kilmarnock last season, which earned him a place in Steve Clarke's World Cup squad.

In North America, the 20-year-old made two appearances off the bench as the Tartan Army returned prematurely after failing to get past the group stages.

Curtis will now be hoping to make a mark at Ibrox under McInnes after proving his qualities at Kilmarnock.

The former Hearts boss has admitted that the young winger will be involved in the Glaswegian outfit's first team next season.

While the forward has earned the right to get an opportunity in Govan, it may be in a slightly unconventional role.

Derek McInnes' three transfer priorities could affect Findlay Curtis

According to Rangers Review journalist Chris Jack, the Gers are prioritising signing a left-sided centre-back, midfielder and a right-winger.

The Light Blues have made six additions to their squad this summer, but McInnes has no intention of stopping.

If new wingers are signed at Ibrox, it would certainly leave a slight question mark over Curtis' future.

Ex-Scotland international Colin Hendry feels fans in G51 will desperately want the youngster to be integrated into the first team.

During Curtis' loan spell under Neil McCann, he often played at right-back, which could be where McInnes sees his future.

Speaking via The Herland in June, Hendry said, "Curtis is a talented youngster Rangers fans want to see integrated into the first team after an explosive loan at Kilmarnock at the end of last season."

Where can Findlay Curtis thrive best at Ibrox?

Curtis' exit from Rangers in the winter transfer window didn't make sense, as he could have certainly helped them in the title race.

Andreas Skov Olsen endured a disappointing spell on loan at the Gers after arriving in January, and keeping the Scottish youngster would arguably have been the better option.

With McInnes working with a 4-4-1-1 formation during pre-season, Curtis will likely have to compete with the likes of Djedi Gassama, Oliver Antman, Thelo Aasgaard, Lyall Cameron and Nedim Bajrami for a place in the team.

There will no doubt be a few exits and incomings in the wide midfield positions at Ibrox in the coming weeks.

Getting regular minutes on the wings could prove difficult for Curtis, but with Dujon Sterling and Ross McCrorie the only two options at right-back, that's where the Scotland international could prove himself.
