Tom Miller and Barry Ferguson agree on 'no-brainer' Dujon Sterling decision at Rangers
Tom Miller and Barry Ferguson hold Dujon Sterling in high regard at Rangers.
The English defender has been a key player for Derek McInnes this season, tucking in alongside the centre-backs in recent matches to provide defensive solidity.
After watching the two Old Firm derbies, it's evident that the right-back is essential to the Light Blues' success.
Sterling has started 11 games for the Ibrox side this season and seems to have overcome his persistent fitness issues.
The Glaswegian outfit signed Ross McCrorie and Kosta Nedeljkovic to compete for the right-back spot, but the former Chelsea defender hasn't let them have a sniff of his place in the starting lineup.
If the English full-back continues to perform at a high level for the Govan side, they will face a major decision about his future.
Dujon Sterling contract latest at Rangers
Rangers have work to do with Sterling as the defender's current contract expires in 2028.
The Englishman will soon enter the final year of his deal at Ibrox, which could force the Gers to cash in.
McInnes certainly wouldn't want to lose the right-back after how he has started the season and it's now up to the Glaswegian outfit to secure his future in G51.
Two prominent figures at the Govan side, Miller and Ferguson, also agree that Sterling's contract should be extended.
Speaking on Five Stars VIP on 6 October, Miller said, "It has been reported that perhaps they're in contact to extend his contract. No-brainer."
Ferguson responded, "In my opinion, it's a no-brainer. You get him and playing every game, he'll be one of the best players at Rangers. No doubt in my mind.
"When he's up to speed, I've seen it with my own eyes, I've watched him up closely many a time, he's a top player."
Other Ibrox contract priorities this season
Rangers midfielder Nicolas Raskin was expected to leave in the summer, but ended up staying.
The Belgium international is another player who will enter the final year of his contract at the end of the season.
There are plenty of other assets the Light Blues will look to hold on to for longer.
Olwethu Makhanya has only just signed at Ibrox, but the Glaswegian outfit may feel he deserves a pay rise after a strong start to life in G51.
Emmanuel Fernandez is another valuable asset who the Govan side could potentially look to tie down to a new contract to get the most out of his sale in the future.
