Tom English not having Nicolas Raskin drama at Rangers before transfer deadline
Nicolas Raskin was left at home as Rangers went into their crunch Conference League showdown with Jablonec.
Derek McInnes' men went to Czechia with a one-goal lead on Thursday, knowing if they avoid defeat, European football is secured again.
But they travelled without Raskin, with a possible transfer away shared as the reason behind it.
While there has been no active negotiations or bids yet, his future has been a topic of discussion all summer.
Midfield has been a very busy area of transfer activity at Ibrox this summer, with three new faces signed there alone.
Dan Neil, Vanja Dragojevic and Cammy Devlin have all signed.
Nico Raskin call causes drama
Despite Devlin being suspended after his red card in the first leg, Raskin was still left behind, with transfer activity noted.
Tom English wasn't having any of it, saying that McInnes' decisions were nowhere near comparable to the drama of Youssef Chermiti.
Speaking live on BBC Sportsound's coverage of Jablonec versus Rangers, the reporter couldn't make sense of it.
"There is just something about what Derek McInnes said there," English said.
"Youssef Chermiti, subject of £22m bid, but he starts against Hibs.
"Tonight, Nico Raskin, subject of no bid, but he's left at home, that makes no sense to me."
Tochi Chukwuani completed the midfield three for McInnes, with Connor Barron, Lyall Cameron and Thelo Aasgaard on the bench.
Youssef Chermiti drama wasn't taken well
The £22million bid from Galatasaray for Chermiti took everybody by surprise around Ibrox.
Signed for around £8m from Everton, it would have drawn in huge profits, and after a season in which he was very hot and cold.
Instead, the day after that, he started against Hibs and suffered a dreaded ACL injury, essentially ending his season.
While not guaranteed, Galatasaray could have increased their bid if that injury hadn't of happened.
So rather than raking in huge profits, Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers have been forced to spend millions again to plug a hole.
That's despite having Lawrence Shankland, Ryan Naderi and Bojan Miovski still available.
Raskin isn't at the same level of Chermiti, with no bids yet, but maybe they have learned their lesson with huge money possibly coming soon.
In such a big game though with Europe on the line, it's a surprise that they have taken this stance now, days before the deadline.
