Todd Cantwell and Mikey Moore react as Jack Butland posts Rangers farewell
Jack Butland's time at Rangers has come to an end.
The English goalkeeper has departed Ibrox in a £3million move to join Premier League new boys Hull City.
That deal is part of a merry-go-round that has seen Rangers snap up Croatia international Ivor Pandur in a reported £6m deal.
Rangers have been busy reshaping their squad, with Lawrence Shankland, Ross McCrorie, and Ben Godfrey joining Pandur in moving to Govan.
There was a feeling that the time was right for 33-year-old Butland to seek pastures new, after some inconsistent performances last season.
Butland has now taken to social media to post a message of farewell to supporters, and plenty of team-mates past and present have been reacting.
What have Todd Cantwell and Mikey Moore said to Jack Butland?
Butland moved to Ibrox in June 2023, and enjoyed a strong debut campaign keeping 18 clean sheets from 38 Scottish Premiership appearances.
However, the former Manchester United and Stoke City goalkeeper's performances became a little more erratic in the following two campaigns.
Butland posted a fond farewell on Instagram, though, paying tribute to the Ibrox faithful and saying "once a Ranger, always a Ranger".
Ex-Rangers attacking midfielder Todd Cantwell was among those to reply, writing: "You’ve done yourself proud brother."
Teenager Mikey Moore, who Rangers hope to bring back on loan this term, wrote: "Good luck jack."
Who else replied to Jack Butland?
Butland was clearly a popular figure among the Rangers dressing room, given the amount of replies he received on his post.
A whole host of names from the past few seasons took time to pay tribute to Butland's contribution in a Rangers shirt.
Nico Raskin wrote: "Super jack butland in goal", while Hamza Igamane posted: "All the best brother."
Leon Balogun added to the well wishes, commenting: "It's been an absolute pleasure mate! What an asset to the team you've been. And I'm sure you will be one for your new club as well. All the best."
You always had the sense that Butland genuinely cared, and gave his all for the shirt at Ibrox.
But it would be difficult to argue that Rangers receiving a £3m fee at his age is not good business, nor can you really say it is not the right time to move on.
He leaves with the well-wishes of team-mates and supporters, and now it is time to see what Pandur can produce between the sticks.
