Nicolas Raskin's potential Ibrox departure could help Rangers over the line with transfers elsewhere.

The midfielder has been with his country Belgium, at this summer's World Cup, where he helped his nation to the quarter-final.

While the 25-year-old has been away, he's been constantly linked with possible transfer destinations, with Bologna and Atalanta among those mentioned.

Raskin had another impressive individual campaign for the Bears last season, despite the club's overall underperformance when it was all said and done.

Regardless, he has only heightened his stock while playing for Belgium this summer, attracting even more clubs.

Now, Raskin could leave Rangers and pocket Andrew Cavenagh a big wedge, which would allow him to sanction further signings for Derek McInnes.

The signings Nicolas Raskin's exit would help with

According to Jornada Perfecta, Villarreal are the latest team to come to the attention of Raskin.

Manchester United, Hull City and Real Betis are three other clubs that have been credited with interest, though Villarreal appear to have moved ahead.

Raskin is said to be "very close" to Villarreal, and a transfer would be in the region of £17million, and is said to be "one step away" from joining.

It's said that the Rangers star would be one of several signings for the Yellow Submarine, if confirmed.

However, £17m for Cavenagh and Co. would allow the Gers to spend to sign his replacement.

Ibrox News understands that Jens Hjerto-Dahl wants to join Rangers, though a reported £7m fee is yet to be agreed with Tromso for the box-to-box playmaker.

McInnes is also said to be keen on reuniting with Lewis Ferguson, though Rangers understand it will be hard to find an agreement with Bologna, which is why Raskin's sale could be so important.

But there is a fine line that the Bears need to address with this particular sale.

Raskin sale timeline is crucial; here's why

There have been suggestions that Rangers value Raskin in excess of £20m, though nothing to say that it's a fee other clubs would spend on the Belgian.

The 49ers will understandably want to hold out for as much money as possible for their prized assets, especially given the interest that Raskin is generating.

However, the likes of Hjerto-Dahl and Ferguson are both highly sought-after elsewhere, which means that time is not on the Gers' side.

That said, Rangers may need to accept selling Raskin for a few million short of their asking price to make sure they have the funds needed in time to get either Hjerto-Dahl or Ferguson, possibly even both.
