Rangers could have an opportunity to sign Lens striker Rayan Fofana in the final days of the transfer window.

Derek McInnes wants more attacking additions at the Gers, and they have now been presented with the chance to bring the 20-year-old Frenchman to G51.

The young striker has been made available as the Light Blues evaluate possibilities ahead of deadline day.

Fofana has been presented as an option at Ibrox after struggling for minutes at Lens.

The attacker scored five goals in 25 Ligue 1 appearances, but started just five games.

For the start of the new season against Paris Saint-Germain, the young forward once again came on as a late substitute as Lens surprisingly won the Trophee des Champions.

Rangers have Youssef Chermiti replacement as Rayan Fofana valuation emerges

Youssef Chermiti's injury at Ibrox has derailed McInnes' plans for the 2026-27 campaign.

The Portugal Under-21 international is expected to be on the sidelines for a significant period and Fofana could now arrive as a short-term replacement.

According to The Scottish Sun on 21 August, the Gers have been made aware of the French youngster's availability.

The striker's name has been put forward at Ibrox and he's valued at £7million at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis.

Lens would allow Fofana to leave on loan this summer, but the Glaswegian outfit are likely to face fierce competition for him.

What Rayan Fofana transfer would mean at Ibrox

It will be interesting to see how the situation of McInnes' number nine options at Rangers develops.

Many would have tipped Lawrence Shankland to play a key role at Ibrox under the ex-Hearts boss, but he has failed to make an impact so far.

With Chermiti out for a significant period, Ryan Naderi has emerged as the Scottish manager's preferred option up top.

Fofana would likely be competing with Shankland and the German striker for a place in the starting lineup.

McInnes doesn't seem to fancy Bojan Miovski and it wouldn't be surprising to see the North Macedonia international leave sooner rather than later.

Fofana has shown pace, agility and an eye for goal in Ligue 1, but it remains to be seen whether his signing will be pursued in Govan.
