The late hitch in Connor Barron exit as Rangers give permission for England move

Connor Barron has been given permission to leave Rangers.

The midfielder has had several offers across Europe, but has insisted he wants to stay and fight for his place.

Derek McInnes has landed several new midfielders this window already, so the Scot has somewhat fallen down the pecking order.

He was an important player for Danny Rohl last term, but a knee injury halted his momentum at Ibrox.

Now, a new route has opened up for Barron to leave Rangers, but the English transfer deadline could cause an issue.

Who wants to sign Connor Barron?

According to a fresh report from Sky Sports correspondent Anthony Joseph, Barron has permission to try and seal a loan move to English Championship side Middlesbrough.

However, the deal is running out of time, with the English deadline at 11pm.

It was already revealed on Tuesday that Barron is keen to stay and fight for his place, and rejected a move to Bundesliga 2 side Hannover 96.

Sevilla also wanted the former Aberdeen man, but were unable to free up a non-EU spot to sign him.

Will Barron choose Middlesbrough?

Middlesbrough are striving for promotion from the English Championship this season, a prospect that could entice Barron.

But what the 24-year-old won't want to hear is that he will most likely be a utility player at Boro.

The north east side already have the likes of USMNT trio Aidan Morris, Sebastian Berhalter and Roskas Pukstas as options, so Barron would have an extremely difficult time in getting into the first team.

Middlesbrough's move for the Rangers man comes after they sold midfielder Abdoulaye Kante to Al-Ettifaq, a player who only played for them four times last season.

Why would Barron decide to go there if he is likely to get less minutes than he would at the Gers?
