The £40m Rangers casualty necessary to completely fund Derek McInnes' Ibrox rebuild
Rangers still have a lot of work to do as they try to build a competitive squad for Derek McInnes.
The Gers have made five signings so far this summer, addressing their goalkeeping department, defence, midfield and attack, but there are still specific positions that lack quality and depth.
In the backline, another centre-back and left-back are needed to compete with John Souttar, Emmanuel Fernandez, Ben Godfrey and Tuur Rommens, while the midfield and attack could yet see changes.
The Ibrox hierarchy have already spent £7million on new signings this transfer window and they could be set for a significant windfall from Nicolas Raskin which could be invested in the squad.
If McInnes is serious about winning the Scottish Premiership immediately, the Glaswegian outfit surely need to spend much more.
There has been plenty of speculation that the Govan side could raise £20m from any Raskin sale, especially after his performances at the World Cup.
Rangers have second £20m player in their ranks
Youssef Chermiti is also being linked with an exit from Ibrox, with Olympique Lyon interested in taking him from the Gers.
The Portugal Under-21 international enjoyed a brilliant second half of the season at the Light Blues, establishing himself as a big-game player.
With the Glaswegian outfit signing the 22-year-old from Everton for a £10m package last summer, they will surely be hoping to make a hefty profit.
Chris Jack suggests that any offer below £20m tabled for the centre-forward in the coming weeks will be laughed off by the Govan side.
Speaking about Chermiti on The Rangers Review on 9 July, Jack said, "What he has turned into for Rangers is a hugely valuable asset. You're not talking £8m to £10m anymore. You're not sticking just a couple on top of it.
"Any bids that don't start with a two are just going to be laughed out the door this summer."
Where Derek McInnes could spend possible Ibrox windfall
Rangers could make Lewis Ferguson their marquee signing of the summer, with the Bologna captain available for around £17m.
With the likes of Nedim Bajrami, Ross McCausland and Danilo probably leaving soon, there's room for some more attacking additions at the Gers.
While the number nine position looks secure, even if Chermiti leaves, the Light Blues arguably need more flair out wide.
Findlay Curtis needs to prove himself at Ibrox, while Djeidi Gassama and Oliver Antman are coming off rather underwhelming debut seasons.
Mikey Moore's exit has left a void in the Glaswegian outfit's creative department, and it wouldn't be surprising to see Cavenagh spend big to bring the Tottenham Hotspur star back to G51.
Chermiti and Raskin could bring in huge sums this summer, and realistically, they could be needed.
