Tawanda Maswanhise primed for 'really good' transfer as Rangers named

Motherwell's Tawanda Maswanhise has once again been named in the same sentence as Rangers.

The Zimbabwean star set the Scottish Premiership alight at Fir Park last season, but has stuck around for now.

Danny Rohl was linked with Maswanhise while in charge at Ibrox, but nothing materialised from the initial interest .

That could change under Derek McInnes.

With Rangers hitting a small injury crisis already, Maswanhise has once again been named as a possible signing.

Youssef Chermiti could be out for the entire season with an ACL injury, with another striker on the cards before September 3.

This possible move ticks so many boxes in Govan.

Maswanhise can play as the number nine, alongside another striker and also out wide on either flank, exactly what McInnes needs.

And as people mention Claudio Braga at Hearts, the Sun's David Friel has other ideas for headhunters at Ibrox.

"Tawanda Maswanhise at Motherwell," he said.

"I just look at him, he can play on the left, right, through the middle. He's a good age and prime for a really good move.

"I just wonder if someone like that, if you're going to spend all that money on someone, do you go for him because he's so versatile?

"I think he's the only one I would go for."

Who will sign for Rangers next?

Ahead of Jagiellonia coming to Ibrox on Thursday for the second leg of their Europa League qualifier, the Bears are busy.

Couhaib Driouech is set to complete his £7million move to Rangers, undergoing his medical already.

That's one marquee winger through the door, following Daisuke Yokota from Hannover 96 last week.

Then it's a left-back and a striker wanted next, with Tuur Rommens also injured right now.

Jayden Meghoma is wanted on loan again from Brentford, but there is little talk around a new striker.

Maswanhise would be more difficult to pull off, given the upward trajectory of Motherwell, but he'd surely welcome a move to Ibrox.

Now, it's down to Andrew Cavenagh and the 49ers to put their money where their mouths are, something they've proved they're not afraid to do.

For now, Lawrence Shankland, Ryan Naderi and Bojan Miovski will hold down the fort, but more is needed to turn things around.
